TEH CRASH was a tragic event that occurred in July 2020 in which Heyuri's servers were destroyed, and much of the site had to be rebuilt from scratch or recovered from several-week old backups.

Timeline

  • On July 9th, 2020, at around 21:00 UTC, Heyuri's main server Yukari fatally crashed. kuz attempted to reboot the servers, but he discovered that no operating system could be found. After 6 hours of attempting to recover Heyuri's core files, kuz came to the conclusion that the data had been lost.[1].
  • At around 21:15 UTC, a Heyuri user who at this time had no idea what was happening began working on heyuri_error_523.swf—a simple Flash loop to express their despair at Heyuri suddenly going offline. By 21:45 UTC, it was complete.[2]
  • (insert stuff about what was happening on dicksword[3], especially the following for the LOLs:)
Jul 11 23:50:20 <Discord>	<Pooky> So basically both main server and that secondary one (in Osaka) failed at the same time?
Jul 11 23:50:32 <Discord>	<Kuznetsov> yes
Jul 11 23:50:47 <Discord>	<Kuznetsov> around an hour apart
Jul 11 23:50:55 <Discord>	<Pooky> That can't be a coincidence imo
Jul 11 23:51:20 <Discord>	<Pooky> I'd think you guys were attacked
Jul 11 23:51:32 <Discord>	<Kuznetsov> We werent
Jul 11 23:52:22 <Discord>	<Pooky> So how come two independant servers went down one after another in such short timespan
Jul 11 23:52:39 <Discord>	<Pooky> this is just statistically impossible
Jul 11 11:13:45 <Discord>	<NF> Akima is a CIA agent? I knew it
  • (also insert stuff about the temporary front page[1] and on the temporary board(s)[4][5] here)
  • (and then some stuff about Heyuri was restored)
