MyAllSearch is a mysterious UK-based "privacy-first" search engine that recently (as of writing this on September 9, 2025) started being spammed on various imageboards, pushing itself as an alternative to mainstream search engines such as Google and Bing. The site has had a shady history dating back to 2006.

The earliest recorded archive of the MyAllSearch website dates back to Feb 2007^[1], however the domain was first registered in June 2006. The copyright on the first WayBack archive also implies that the site has been up since 2006. It seemed to be a simple ad infested search engine with a few shady bits, namely a malicious toolbar that seemed to have sneakily installed the site as your startup page on every browser.^[2] This was common at the time for most no-name search engines so nothing special, but what's notable is the many other shady stuff that continued after, alongside it's associations with many other sites with increasingly concerning actions and further connections.

Beginning sometime in mid-2025, MyAllSearch was being reccomended in various privacy website discussion threads, on a variety of imageboards, with examples such as 4chan^[3], Gurochan and Heyuri ourselves. This seems to be a tactic to try to sneak itself into the mainstream, without much efficacy. The posts follow a very basic seemingly AI-generated template of a list of more well-known search engines with MyAllSearch sneakily added in.

This is where the site started to gain some infamy, particularly since the same or similar list would be reposted on a variety of imageboards, presumably in order to rake in clueless privacy concious users for their own purposes. The poster is seen alot mixing up 'Startpage' for 'Smartpage'.

Social Media

Wikipedia

Multiple attempts to create a Wikipedia page for the site^[4] has been made in attempt to seemingly promote the site, but has been deleted multiple times by Wikipedia admins since 2010. Wikipedia mirrors such as EverybodyWiki still have some versions of the article.

X/Twitter

MyAllSearch has had a Twitter account dating back to 2010, repeatedly spamming the same post up to this day:

The twitter account today seems to be used to hop atop the communities other privacy-first companies such as Proton.^[5]

Youtube

MyAllSearch has had two youtube accounts, a seemingly abandoned one since 2012 (@myallsearch2480) and another (@myallsearch) thats latest video was posted in September 4th 2025.

The original youtube acccount is home to a single video from 2012/02/10, a clip of a commerical-esque voiceover for MyAllSearch atop an image of the MyAllSearch homepage. It was moderately successful and gained a few thousands views.

The second youtube account had a series summarizing the news for the years 2014, and 2016-2020 (for some reason skipping 2015?).^[6] The channel then lay dormant until 2025, where the account posted a basic 21 second video with an australian AI voice over stock footage, explaining the site.^[7]

The Weird History

MyAllSearch's Toolbar

Throughout the years of atleast 2007-2014, MyAllSearch provided an install link to a toolbar of their that hijacked mainstream browsers to turn the main search engine into MyAllSearch, likely in order to drive users to use their ad-ridden site. It has been reported in a variety of antivirus software as a browser hijacker, and has multiple records under different names. The toolbar was likely purchased from a developer and rebranded for their site.

The toolbar is known to be difficult to uninstall, be preinstalled in some OEM Hardware^[8], and was likely to be part of old install CDs.

45chan

45chan (under 45chan.com, unrelated to the 2010 instance) was a Kusaba X imageboard oriented towards questionable nudes of various women. Most of the boards were oriented towards questionable pornographic material, alongside having a direct Jailbait board. Was most probably CP, despite much of the site stating "no underage images or video allowed". If not a CP house, it is atleast a site of which should fall under heavy suspicion for it. There was a hidden board that you cannot suspect DIDN'T have CP.^[9]

The date at which the site was first began seems to be November 2012, according to WHOIS Domain Registry history,^[10] However the site disappeared, and either redirected to MyAllSearch in December 2013^[11]^[12] or to it's own page linking to "How to remove MyAllSearch"^[13], which does not line up with the WHOIS history of the domain, remaining unchanged before being updated in 2015 by a seemingly unrelated Chinese person (possibly domain hoarding, it was handed around a few times afterwards). The site's closure page also seemed to have the above banner, advertising itself as a pretty clear jailbait BBS. However, the names on WHOIS data between both the 45chan.com domain and MyAllSearch.com differ, including different addresses, suggesting multiple aliases were used for the site.

Association with SearchWebMe.com

SearchWebMe Logo, unchanged till closure

SearchWebMe.com was a website first registered in 2005 by a "Chris Phillps", the same to own the the MyAllSearch.com domain. In December 2008, the MyAllSearch.com site proudly stated to be utilizing SearchWebMe for it's search engine, with a "Powered by SearchWebMe" under the searchbar.^[14]

SearchWebMe itself seemed to tout itself as 'All the Best Search Engines!", but seemed to be a rebranded, rebadged and redone form of adware, the same as MyAllSearch. Archives also point to site traffic bot advertising and various other scams. It also later grabbed the domain SearchMeWeb to use as another search engine which had an awfully similar frontend to MyAllSearch (hereon referred to as MAS), just that the Xanax and other weird links were used for cars, jobs, travel, and alot more instead.^[15] SearchWebMe's domain continued to be renewed by Chris until seemingly 2016, where the domain was left idle.^[16] It was then reregistered by a chinese guy, then some anon, and then some russian. Probably just got taken.

SearchWebMe.com as of writing does not resolve, and SearchMeWeb.com the same, but somewhere in 2024, the SearchMeWeb.com domain was redirected to a casino website, as is the fate of alot of semi-popular domains.

SearchWebMe UK LTD was then established just a bit before in January of 2008, by Chris Phillps as the CEO amongst other people as other roles.^[17] The slightly questionable bit is that all the names are under the same address, linked to a flat in London. Probably just his roommates, but that's questionable considering how small London's flats are. SearchWebMe UK Limited then filed a notice to dissolve in March 2010, then fully dissolving in June 2010, 2 months after MAS seemingly went down. (There's just a gap in the archives.)

EngageMARK Search Inc.

Their slogan was initially: "Making The Engage Mark.."

This is seemingly the earliest link to both SearchWebMe, and MyAllSearch. The "company" (Nothing found on the UK's Companies House) seemed to be some dude selling a cheap skinnable search engine script, alongside other grey market services such as Proxies and some other goods. The site quotes even MORE companies that have a history dating back further and further in time. EngageMARK soon turned into it's own search engine around Aug 2008 TODO:CITATION, and scrubbed any trace of commercializing their search engine. It went down at... some time. I'll write the rest later.

Yapbrowser

Here's something quite a bit more concrete, enough to have a wikipedia article on it... with an issues template on it lol^[18]

Yapbrowser was a web browser from 2006 seemingly originating from Russia. An otherwise normal browser, sources state that any url would instantly direct you to CP.^[19] In the same article, InfoWorld subsequentially brings up multiple other sites that seem to have similar links to YapBrowser, MyAllSearch, and various other suspicious early internet sites with ALOT of links to CP. The browser returned in 2011 under the seemingly same codebase.

MyAllSearch had some interesting connections with the Russian internet, having it's own russian site and various other goods. When YapBrowser was called out by Sunbelt Software in their blog,^[20] they also managed to find a document pretaining to the malicious plans for the browser, and subsequentially translated and publicized the document to bring attention to the group. A lot of news articles were made about it, and then not long after, MyAllSearch said to purchase Yapbrowser and definitely not redistribute it in 2011.

The site for YapBrowser is still up today, looking to be a poorly made Wordpress website utilizing mostly AI generated media to fill the lines. There is no download for this supposed browser. The original YapBrowser might be found on vx-underground, or other malware sample databases.

Misc Links

There is an awful lot of other sites that get linked to and from MyAllSearch, so this is a short concise list of some too underresearched or unclear to tell what's going on:

SearchCoolWeb (Archive) - Archived ONCE on Wayback Machine, and mentioned in the EngageMARK press release.

Zango/180solutions - According to the wikipedia article linked, 180solution's referral system was exploited by botnets that seem to have some links to the folks here. Russian of course. A zdnet article connects the two.

Yapsearch.com/Yapcash.com - Assosciated with Yapbrowser.

Search-revolution.org (Archive) - Linked in a May 2013 archive of MAS. Probably not that interesting.

Exactseek (Archive) - Common advertiser throughout these sites. Seems to be how the company made money, and only operated in collaboration with MAS from 2006-2009, about the same time as SearchWebMe UK LTD was operating. Probably an important one.

Jayde Online - Associated with Exactseek. Site says made in 1998. Possibly oldest link to MyAllSearch, though probably was alot more distant and wasn't with the whole CPnanigens.

Actual Privacy

This was tested on September 8th, 2025. Older or newer versions of MyAllSearch may differ in the backend.

MyAllSearch seems to be a plain frontend for Google, with all branding removed. Searching through the site's search bar and using Firefox's Network inspection, the below domains are queried:

https://www.google.com/cse/
https://clients1.google.com/

and various other google domains, though these seem to mostly be fonts and miscellenous services. Regardless, these directly dial google and doesn't seem to have much difference to using a different website with the 'Powered By Google' logo on it.

In fact, this is acknowledged by the MyAllSearch Terms of Service, with this excerpt:

Our search functionality is powered by Google’s Search Results API. All search queries are processed by Google’s servers and are subject to Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We do not control or guarantee the accuracy or content of the search results provided.

To put it simply, it's just google with a second name, using the Google Programmable Search Engine. It isn't a search aggregator as may be advertised, but a plain Google frontend, without any statements on anonymization or search quality. If you want an actual privacy friendly alternative, use a SearX instance or something. DuckDuckGo might pretend to be it's own thing but they do atleast anonymize your queries.

It isn't a search aggregator as may be advertised, but literally just a Google frontend. If you want an actual alternative, use a SearX instance or something. Literally anything except this.

If you want an actual privacy friendly alternative, use a SearX instance or something. DuckDuckGo might pretend to be it's own thing but they do atleast anonymize your queries.
