== Regarding the transfer fee ==

Small clarification: The transfer fee (12.50$ in this case) isn't paid to the original registrar (Epik), but to the new registrar (porkbun). Epik only gives a transfer code (for free) that lets us move domain somewhere else (as the standard procedure is). I announced it as 13$ because I dunno how much payment processors charge. Once it's paid by yakuruto, the transfer fee acts like an early renewal - like early paying for one more year after February 2026, so currently the domain is paid for until February 2027 as you can see in whois.<br>I'm not sure but Epik probably wouldn't release the domain in February 2026, I read that registrars just permanently sit on domains that were b& for ToS ^^;

'''Kokonotsuba''' is an open-source [[Imageboard|imageboard software]] originally developed by [[kuz]] for use on [[List of Kuz owned Websites|his websites]]<ref name="kolymakok">https://archive.ph/f1VKK</ref>, and as of December 2025, is only used by [[Heyuri]], and formerly, [https://neocafe.org NeoCafe] and [[Nashi Kouen]]. Originally a fork of [[pixmicat]], the software has since been modified so heavily that in 2021, kuz declared that it was its own independent software. Kokonotsuba is likely the only registrationless BBS softwares still receiving regular content updates. Vichan, the former juggernaut software, used by many imageboards, and coming from a family of 8chan-derived or 8chan-associated imageboard software, has been largely unmaintained. It was handed over to [[Kuz]] in 2023, after its previous owner, Fredrick Brennan (of 8chan fame) decided it needed a new chief maintainer, as previous chiefs had gone AWOL. After kuz, it was placed in the hands of Angeleno, a former associate of kuz. Vichan now receives sporadic updates, and is alleged to be backdoored.<ref>by whom? == Features ==

Kokonotsuba has many features that make it quite unique, many ported from eastern imageboards, and many are novel inventions. A philosophy of emulating Japanese boards (such as futaba and 2channel) has lead Kokonotsuba to stand out. It also has many quality of life features not present in other BBS software. As of the recent (December 2025) multi-image update, Kokonotsuba is not only at feature parity with other BBS software, but could very well be said to surpass it in several metrics. Of course, this wiki is biased towards that idea.

== Origin of the name ==

The name ''Kokonotsuba'' was originally suggested by an anonymous [[StrawberryHeaven]] user on November 7th, 2020, in a thread titled "New Software Name Suggestions Thread".<ref>https://web.archive.org/web/20201121205624/https://img.strawberryheaven.net/q/</ref>

Strange World, at its core, is a simple Japanese-style bulletin board. In the main display view, there is a post form at the top of the page, and the 40 most recent posts are shown below in chronological order; from most recent to least recent. Kuz, born 1988, Omsk, USSR, currently lives in Eastern United States after exiling himself from Russia in 2014 over a dispute related to taxes. He first married at the age of 16, though his first wife died 3 years into their marriage, he apparently remarried again in 2011, but divorced at a later, unknown date. Most recently, kuz married his 3rd wife, 21 year old Nedelya Kuznetsova, on August 20th, 2021. She has on occasion made public appearances on Gab, though her instagram account, which she previously advertised on her gab account has since been deleted for unkown reasons.

Outside the internet, little is known about kuz's day to day life, he served in the Russian Military (see pictures below) and made several minor TV appearances in Omsk in the early 2000s, according to Bibliotheca Anonoma, which details kuz's life extensively. A large expose paper detailing kuz's "monopolization" of imageboards is also available, which provided many (unsourced) details about kuz.

Despite many criticisms of "decadent" western culture, kuz is a huge fan of Elvis Presley, judging by his Vidlii channel and avatars on other websites.

Cvnka is a Russian-American vtuber who's gimmick is lovecraftian/eldritch horror. Kuz is/was apparently a fan of her and rumors of supposed interactions between the two are circulated but suppressed quickly on [[9ch]] and other sites.

As of yet, he has been the longest reigning admin, ruling for just over 2 years. In kuz's typical, whimsical fashion, someone first suggested kuz buy Vidlii on Ayashii World, to which kuz replied "Thanks for the idea"<ref>[https://archive.ph/vMdX3 Log Warehouse, Ayashii World]</ref>, and literally hours later it was announced he had purchased the site, to the surprise of many users. The sudden purchase shocked and excited many, and plans were discussed.<ref>https://ayashii.net/bbs.php?m=t&s=2586&c=08&ff=202202.dat</ref> Kuz stated he would utilize this for Heyuris benefit, although no Heyuri ads appeared until months later. Apparently this was because kuz wanted to quietely introduce a user banner system, then add Heyuri banners, however kaguya said "fuck that" and just put up a Heyuri video on the front page, which drew many new users to the site.

Kuz initially recieved alot of controversy after users discovered his anti-LGBT writings, but it was quickly suppressed, more controversy followed when a Kolyma-affiliated channel started uploading Russian Propaganda to the site, causing some users to leave "in support of ukraine", although for the most part no one cared, and no action was taken.

Kuz shares adminship of the website with lolwut, although it was suggested that kuz later just became the sysadmin.

===Kissu===
Kissu is a imageboard which is owned by one of kuz's many "public enemies", kuz's rivalry with its two owners were a source of embarrassment and downtime for Heyuri for many months until kuz's abdication.

Kissu and Heyuri regularly attacked eachother, with kuz alleging one of its owners, Oregonian Programmer "Robert Brown" was a pedophile and spammed "terabytes" of CP on his sites, while Brown said kuz was a "unstable psycho" who kidnapped and manipulated teenagers and forced them into coding bootcamps, and also that he had forced employees of his company to download spyware. None of the claims made by either are supported by concrete evidence, however both maintain their rivalry today.

The other owner of the site, 30 year old Kai Niccol-Griffith, is a /jp/ lolcow who kuz accuses of slandering him and maliciously ddos'ing his websites, while Kai claims kuz tried to use kissu to advertise his websites, Kai called kuz a "self obsessed creep" and kuz retorted saying Kai was "autistic" and suggested he had gynocomastia, as well as [[AIDS|HIV/AIDs]], which kuz himself is known to have.

===Soyjak.party===
Soyjak.party, more commonly known simply as the 'party or the 'sharty is an imageboard based around soyjaks. Kuz has an incredibly extensive history with the website which ended in him purchasing it in January 2022. The topic is a hugely contentious issue and the resulting scandal contributed to kuz resigning later that year.

===Gurochan===
[[Gurochan]] is kuz's largest website, although it is currently owned by [[Kaguya]], kuz revived it in early 2021.

Kuz first brought it back with co-admin "Straitjakit", whom now ranks among kuz's list of "defeated enemies". Straitjakit and Kuz ruled together for about 10 seconds (January 29th - February 13th) before kuz's abrasive personality and straitjakits down syndrome collided and kuz kicked him out, resulting in huge drama. Despite initial flak, the userbase gradually began to take kuz's side. Accessible only through TOR, the sites size and contents are a controversial and disputed topic, [[kuz]] purports it was both the first and largest Russian textboard, which the front page of its successor website, [https://devyach.net Devyach.net], also advertises, whilst critics of Kuz suggest the site was much smaller, or did not even exist. Its also widely believed that the site was a large CP hotbed, although kuz says the most illegal thing was pirated movies. The site had a huge problem with so called "crime announcements", and many of the sites boards and phrases were named with references to russian criminal/gang slang (e.g. pero, meaning literally "feather", but is a slang for a concealed knife).

The status of 9channel in reality is more akin to a legend, although certain clues have hinted that it did actually exist, such as a the official 9ch twitter account being created in 2009 and various screenshots of posts with dates that align. By the way, check out Ward Cunningham's C2 wiki. It was the first wiki on the internet. It's mostly about programming languages/practices and hacker culture. The wiki's dormant now, but it makes an interesting study of how a wiki culture developed under constraints different to modern wikis. E.g. pages on that wiki are like if the main article pages and the talk pages on modern wikis were combined into one, so you are reading peoples' commentary and interjections with the articles themselves. Article names have to be at least two words long partly because of reasoning that a topic that can be summarized in one word was too general to have an article about, or something like that. Much of the time text and conversations were shuffled around and trimmed and split into new pages and people had to repair the flow of text to keep it coherent. One or two hardheaded shitters shat up a large portion of the wiki over time with argumentative verbal diarrhoea and people tried to quarantine it because few people were willing to just delete paragraphs outright. I'm not talking about IRC (which predates the web and wasn't as popular as web chat was in its prime) nor "chat programs" (i.e. IM, skype, etc. - which came after web chat) - I'm talking about web chat! It's on the web! Of course, web chat has been almost completely irrelevant since forums and IM took off in the latter half of the 90s... but prior to those, web chat was very prominent. Now bear with me as I take you on a journey...

On the Japanese side, there were countless web chat instances using things like the popular [https://web.archive.org/web/19961225124555/http://www.cup.com/yui/chat/ Yui Chat] script, which was based on [https://www.rescue.ne.jp/ Rescue]'s WebCHAT script. In the mid 90s, there were many popular sites that allowed people to create their own web chat "rooms", and it was on one of these sites ([https://web.archive.org/web/19961229104124/http://www.digitaleden.com/ Digital Eden] to be precise) where Ayashii World's presence on the web began. [https://web.archive.org/web/19961229114031/http://www.digitaleden.com/h10/a910.htm Here's what a random Digital Eden room looked like] - even though the Ayashii World room was unfortunately not archived ([https://web.archive.org/web/19961229104240/http://www.digitaleden.com/h6/daicyou.htm it is listed however]), all the rooms that ''are'' archived look identical to each other, so I'm 99% certain this is what it would have looked like. For the first year of its existence (1996/08/21–1997/09/08), Ayashii World was hopping between sites just like this (as opposed to using server hosts that allowed custom CGI scripts)

Rescue also made the incredibly popular MiniBBS ([http://www.phoenix-c.or.jp/~a-planet/QP-Haney/Haney-keijiban/minibbs.cgi here's a random example of what the popular 7.5 version looked like]), first released on 1996/05/02. It married the [http://www.scriptarchive.com/demos/wwwboard/wwwboard.html WWWBoard] concept <small>(which during 1995-1996 was the definitive web-based bulletin board script around the globe - it was when MiniBBS took off in Japan and Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB) took off in the West that we went our seperate ways... until 4chan came along!)</small> with a web chat-like interface. Instead of displaying post titles in a threaded manner (as was typical with Usenet/Netnews newreaders and WWWBoard), it displayed all posts in full, and in chronological order - just like a web chat!

Shiba adopted MiniBBS on 1997/09/08 when he moved to [https://web.archive.org/web/19970402071846/http://free.xtel.com/ Free X-Tel], a Korean server host that allowed the use of CGI scripts - he and others would make some modifications to it, but at its core it was still MiniBBS. Now with the context of "bulletin boards" typically being the WWWBoard style sites with university-educated people making lengthy and well-written posts, and web chats typically being for casual/rapid discussion amongst "ordinary folk" with significantly less importance placed on formality, correct formatting, spelling, etc., ''this'' is why Ayashii World was considered to be "chat like" (along with the fact it just plain looked like a slightly more elaborate web chat!)

Heyuri.net is an imageboard created by [[lolico]] in 2018. It was originally hosted on the Heyuri.cf domain and meant to be a P2P filesharing website, but on November 24th 2019 it was relaunched in it's current form as an imageboard. May 25th marks "Heyuri Day", as it was the day when lolico finished his new software rollout, and Heyuri in its traditional sense truly began.
